Application Process
Thank you for your interest in our Internal Medicine Residency Program (THMEP) at Tucson Medical Center, we look forward to you applying.
Our program accepts ten categorical internal medicine positions each year. Applicants must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We participate in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP). We will not accept any applicants outside the NRMP Match. Paper applications will not be accepted.
Applicants are requested to include the following:
- Evidence of successfully passing USMLE Steps I & II or COMLEX steps I&II
- Three letters of recommendation
- Dean's letter of Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
- Personal statement
- Medical school transcripts
- Valid ECFMG certificate required for international medical graduates

Interview Information
Interviews are by invitation only; applicants selected to interview will be notified via Thalamus and at that time will be able to schedule their day/time. We extend invitations to interview beginning in October and conduct our virtual interviews during November, December and January of the current application year.
If you are selected to interview with us, you will have a virtual interview via Thalamus with various program leadership and staff; applicants should be prepared to have a strong internet connection as well as access to audio/visual equipment for the interview. In additional to the formal interview there is an option virtual Q&A session with current residents after your scheduled interview day. We currently do not conduct on site interviews, all of our slots are virtual.

The Internal Medicine Program Sponsors J-1 visa applicants through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). We do not sponsor H1B visas.
