The Transitional Program provides experience for twelve residents in general internal medicine, general surgery, ambulatory, emergency medicine, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, infectious diseases, nephrology, neurology, obstetrics, ophthalmology, orthopeadics, otorhinolaryngolgy, pediatrics, physical medicine/rehabilitation, plastic surgery, psychiatry, pulmonary, radiology or neuroradiology, rheumatology, and others.
During internal medicine rotations, transitional residents participate with the University of Arizona Internal Medicine Residency program, during which they rotate through Tucson Medical Center, University Medical Center and the Southern Arizona VA Medical Center. The inpatient surgery experience is at Tucson Medical Center, where each resident participates on the surgery service conducted by the University of Arizona Surgery Residency Program. The ambulatory clinics are at the Southern Arizona VA Medical Center.
All Transitional residents attend and participate in the many scheduled educational conferences and teaching rounds during their assignments at each teaching site.
