Transitional year residents participate in mandatory and
elective rotations with the University of Arizona-Tucson
Hospitals Internal Medicine Residency Program, one of the
two sponsors of the transitional year residency.
Surgery
The program in Surgery is fully integrated with the University of Arizona,
involving four hospitals in Tucson, including TMC. THMEP
Transitional residents
rotate on general surgery at Tucson Medical Center. A Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellow
participates with the University Heart/Lung Program, which participates in Cardiothoracic surgical care at TMC.
Pediatrics
TMC remains a major teaching institution for the University
of Arizona Pediatrics Residency with a full inpatient
service, along with Pediatric
and Neonatal Intensive Care Units.
Emergency Medicine
The University of Arizona's Emergency Medicine residency is affiliated with
TMC. Emergency Medicine residents rotating through TMC
Emergency Department.
Obstetrics and Gynecology
An integral part of this program includes rotations at Tucson Medical Center.
Orthopedics
Senior residents rotate at TMC on Pediatric Orthopedics.
Urology
Senior residents rotate at TMC on this service.
The University of Arizona Neurology residents rotate through the clinical service at Tucson Medical Center.
Fellows in the Department of Infectious Diseases obtain some of their
clinical training with the Infectious Diseases service at TMC.
