| The Tucson Hospitals Medical Education Program (THMEP) was established in 1963 to conduct graduate and continuing medical education programs at Tucson Medical Center and throughout the greater Tucson community. As a cooperative venture between physicians, hospital administrators and board members, the THMEP programs have enjoyed active support by the Tucson medical community for over 35 years. Since 1971, THMEP has been affiliated with the University of Arizona (U of A) School of Medicine and the U of A has since become an integral partner in our graduate medical education activities. The formation of THMEP was based on two firmly held beliefs. First, that quality medical education is best attained under the guidance of outstanding clinicians in an environment of clinical excellence. Second, that the highest quality of medical care is attained through an association with a strong educational program. As such, the goal of THMEP has remained unchanged since its inception -- to constantly improve both medical education and patient care through a strong commitment to both. As a resident in a THMEP program, your responsibility is to acquire the knowledge and develop the skills that will provide the very best in appropriate, compassionate care for your patients. Our responsibility is to provide the environment in which this is possible and to encourage and assist your professional growth and education in any way we can.
